7-11 Boots CITGO after 20-year contract

26 September 2006: Bud Hedinger of WFLA AM 540 in Orlando, Florida has obtained a copy of a letter from Janey Carpenter, Manager of Consumer Affairs that states 7-11 Stores are ending their 20-year supply agreement with CITGO Petroleum Corp. According to Carpenter, the contract ends next week and 7-11 is now making the switch to its own branded gasoline. Details here. According to Citgo’s website, the company is “owned by PDV America Inc., an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Petrleos de Venezuela, S.A., the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”

Note from NEIN staff: The only true answer is to become less dependent on foreign oil supplies and begin drilling in the US until we find a viable and alternative fuel source. Otherwise, we are simply moving our funding from one terrorist-led country to another.
