18 February 2007: On Friday, I included in the list of murderous sprees by Muslims the 1997 shooting at the Empire State Building as an example of “Personal Jihad” on the streets of America. Today, an article on the front page of NY Daily News confirms that the shooting was indeed done to “take revenge from the Americans, the British, the French and the Israelis” - a stunning admission made by the shooter’s daughter.

Ten years ago this month, on February 24, 1997, a Muslim identified as Ali Abu KAMAL waged his own jihad from the 86th floor observation deck at the Empire State Building. KAMAL’s shooting rampage killed one and injured six others. Authorities and even then NY Mayor Rudolph Giuliani insisted at that time that KAMAL “acted out of rage at monetary loss,” despite finding a letter on KAMAL’s body stating that he wanted to punish the U.S. for supporting Israel. According to diary entries made by KAMAL and known to authorities at that time, he used the Empire State Building to make sure his message was heard. The media, however, were not interested.
