*Charges of “Racism, Religious Profiling;” Lawsuits Expected

15 August 2006: Every American who cares about the current state of affairs and the future of our country should be outraged today, as we are the victims of the convoluted logic of political correctness at the hands of the United States Department of Justice. For the first time since 9/11, I have never been more convinced that we are going to lose the war against Islamic fascism if we continue our current course. If we do, we might as well begin shopping for our prayer rugs, prayer beads and Qur’ans now, unless, of course, we will be able to pick them up at the nearest FBI field office.

Two separate terrorism-related cases involving men of Islamic males of Middle Eastern descent and bulk purchases of cell phones were ripped to shreds by the PC-ruled FBI on Monday, causing the leaders from Arab-American organizations to proclaim that the arrested men were ”victims of racial profiling.” Last Saturday, Tuscola County Prosecutor Mark E. Reene (an astute, well-informed prosecutor doing his job), charged three Texas men with supporting terrorism after their purchases of large quantities of cellular telephones in Caro, Michigan. When stopped by police, Maruan Awad Muhareb, 18, Adham Abdelhamid Othman, 21, and Louai Abdelhamied Othman, 23, had about 1,000 cell phones and photographs of the Mackinac Bridge in their van, according to the police report.

Meanwhile in Ohio - in a separate case - two men from Dearborn, Michigan – home to a large Islamic population and the site of Pro-Hezbollah rallies since the start of the war in the Middle East, were charged with money laundering in support of terrorism at a hearing the previous Wednesday. The men, identified as Osma Sabhi ABULHASSAN, 20, and Ali HOUSSAIKY, 20, both of Dearborn, Michigan, admitted purchasing more than 600 pre-paid cellular telephones in retail outlets in the Mid-Ohio Valley area within the last few weeks. When stopped by police in Marietta, Ohio on a traffic violation, officers found 12 pay-as-you-go cellular telephones and $11,000 in cash in their vehicle. two men after authorities said they found airplane passenger lists and information on airport security checkpoints in their car .

On Monday, the FBI and Michigan State Police said that “there is no evidence linking three Texas men” (arrested in Michigan) to terrorism or a plot to blow up the Mackinac Bridge. In Ohio, federal authorities said they were dropping felony terrorism charges against two Arab-American men from Dearborn.

In the Michigan case, Nabih Ayad, lawyer for the men, said he would seek emergency relief today to have the men’s bail lowered and the charges dropped. He said he would use the statements from the FBI and state police as evidence that the three men had no terrorist intent. According to the attorney, his clients traveled to 20 states to buy pre-paid cellular phones “because the same model is much more expensive in Texas and many stores limit the number customers may purchase.”

In the wake of the decision made public by the FBI and blindsiding the Tuscola County prosecutor, Imad Hamad, the regional director of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, took to the offensive, decrying:

“Are we coming to an era of ultra-sensitivity that because a person’s identity is Arab or of a Middle Eastern background or the Muslim faith that the first thing on the list is terrorism-related?”

Actions of FBI in opposition to their own warnings

On 7 February 2006, the DHS and FBI issued a “Joint Information Bulletin” outlining the concern relating to suspicious bulk cellular telephone purchases. The bulletin detailed that “numerous suspicious actual and attempted bulk purchases of pre-paid cellular telephones (specifically TracFone and Virgin Mobile) models were reported to law enforcement agencies across the United States. The most common points of sale were box retail stores such as WalMart, Target and Best Buy.”

At about the same time, Northeast Intelligence Network investigators found a a highly detailed 33-page document written in Arabic providing detailed instructions on wiring various cellular telephones to act as detonators for improvised explosive devices. Such devices have applications that include the creation of improvised explosive devices (IEDS) that could be used against our troops in Iraq, to the same types of devices that could be used against the infrastructure inside the US. One example copied from an Islamic terrorist forum:

FBI Statements Give-Way to Potential Lawsuits

In a written statement issued with lightening speed, Abulhassan’s family maintained their son was trying to earn money for college and suggested they may sue the authorities who brought the case.
