Family massacre in Chicago a Muslim “honor killing”

By Douglas J. Hagmann

16 April 2010: It was a scene that left one of the most hardened Chicago detectives I know shaken. He described the murder scene to me last night as one of the worst he has seen in his career, and he has seen some of the worst.

Responding early Wednesday morning to the scene of a multiple shooting inside a bungalow located in the 7200 block of South Mozart Street, Chicago, IL were the bloodied and lifeless bodies of Tawanda Thompson, 19, who was in the late stages of pregnancy with a girl; Keyshai Fields, 16, also four-months pregnant; 3 year-old Keleasha Larry, and 7 month-old Jihad Larry. There were all methodically murdered in an early morning shooting spree allegedly at the hand of 32 year-old James A. LARRY, Tawanda Thompson’s husband. They were married less than a month. In addition to the dead, 57 year-old Leona Larry, the suspect’s mother and his 13 year-old nephew, Demond Larry were critically wounded.

Considering the unborn children, six lives were shortened by murder and two more lie in the balance. The act was particularly brutal, according to the homicide detective, who provided this author with the details of the murder scene on the condition his name not be used. [Read more...]

Arrests define current Islamic terror threat

By Douglas J. Hagmann, Director

25 September 2009: In perhaps the most significant ten-day period since 9/11 for domestic counter-terrorism operations, law enforcement officials across the US have made multiple arrests this week of individuals planning to sow death and destruction in the name of Islam. The criminal complaints against those charged provide valuable insight into the thoughts and plans of Islamic terrorists on the streets of America, and most accurately define the current threat facing all of us in the US and Canada today. The documents provide critical insight into the inspirational objectives and operational planning of the Islamic jihad being waged against the West.

The criminal complaints document that among the adherents to fundamentalist Islam, loyalty to Islam supersedes loyalty to the US. They also confirm or serve to illustrate that prison recruitment to Islam, specifically to “jihad” continues unchecked, and there is a disturbing level of covert facilitation to would-be terrorists by Islamic leaders in mosques and Islamic centers across the US.In the case against Michael C. Finton (a/k/a Talib Islam), financial assistance was also provided to the suspect by a “shaykh” living in Saudi Arabia. Although the financial assistance was ostensibly for travel expenses to the Islamic Kingdom so the suspect could marry the “shaykh’s” daughter, the underlying motives should be clear.

The individuals arrested include:

Najibullah ZAZI, a 24 year-old Afghan native and current resident of suburban Denver, for lying to authorities in a terror investigation; Criminal complaint ( PDF file)

Mohammed Wali ZAZI, 53, father of Najibullah and resident of suburban Denver, for lying to authorities in a terror investigation; Criminal complaint (PDF file)

Ahmad Wais AFZALI, 37, the Imam of the Hazrat-I-Abubakr Sadiq mosque in Queens, NY, for lying to authorities in a terror investigation; Link to background article

Hosam Maher Husein SMADI, 19,an illegal alien from Jordan, for planning to detonate a vehicle bomb in Dallas; Criminal Complaint (PDF file)

Michale C. FINTON (a/k/a Talib Islam), recruited to Islam in prison, for attempted murder and using a weapon of mass destruction, for planning to detonate a vehicle bomb at a federal building in Springfield, IL. Criminal Complaint: Fenton, Michael C. (PDF file)

Although the plots of above suspects have been disrupted, others remain free. Some are under surveillance by law enforcement officials, while others are being sought. While many Americans have forgotten the threat posed by Islamic terrorists and have forgotten that they have declared war against the West, the terrorists have not forgotten, and live every day with their evil intentions. Perusal through the criminal complaints linked above verify that.

Gitmo glamor glitz reaches terrorist web sites

By Douglas J. Hagmann, Director

Exactly eight years after the attacks of 9/11, photographs of the key operational field planner and self-proclaimed 9/11 mastermind, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed have “gone viral” on numerous terrorist web sites. Most Americans only know this diabolical terrorist kingpin through the images of his 2003 capture - the disheveled doppelganger of porn star Ron Jeremy. Now, thanks in part to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), members of the terrorist’s family, and complete capitulation to a mindset that virtually no American would have had just 8 years-ago tomorrow, new life has been given to the al Qaeda terrorist commonly referenced as “KSM” and the al Qaeda terrorist network. Study confirms prisons are being used to recruit “homegrown” terrorists

21 September 2006: Our review of a recent report released Tuesday at a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing on “homegrown” terrorists confirmed what we the Northeast Intelligence Network has been reporting for some time: “Radicalized prisoners are a potential pool of recruits by terrorist groups. Prisons have long been places where extremist ideology and calls to violence could find a willing ear, and conditions are often conducive to radicalization. The U.S., with its large prison population, is at risk of facing the sort of homegrown terrorism currently plaguing other countries. “ The joint study conducted by George Washington University and the University of Virginia found that the state prison systems are ill-equipped, either by funding or training of personnel, to identify, track and stop radicalized behavior by inmates or religious counselors. The U.S. prison system currently houses about 2 million people; an estimated six-percent, or about 120,000 of the inmates are Muslim, cites the study. Most importantly, the study confirmed that jailed Islamic “extremists” with violent interpretations of the Qu’ran are exploiting the weak monitoring of our prison population to spread their ideology to other inmates in U.S. prisons.

Counterterrorism consultant Daveed Gartenstein-Ross told senators that “chilling” interpretations of the Quran and other radical Islamic literature was commonly given to prison inmates, citing his experience when he worked for the al-Haramain Islamic Foundation, an international charity that served as a major al-Qaeda source of funding. In prepared testimony to the Senate panel, Gartenstein-Ross stated that the literature urged Muslims “to wage war against non-Muslims who have not submitted to Islamic rule.” He added that the prison system never rejected the dissemination of the literature due to its radical content.

The report identified several high-profile examples of terrorists who became “radicalized” while incarcerated, including the now infamous British shoe bomber Richard Reid and Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman, the Egyptian cleric who plotted to bomb New York City landmarks in 1993. Abdel-Rahman, sentenced to a life term, issued a decree from his federal prison cell ordering Muslims to kill Americans “wherever you find them.” Terror leader Osama bin Laden confirmed that edict by Abdel-Rahman gave religious authority for the 9/11 attacks. The report also cited the formation of the Islamic terrorist group Jamiyyat Ul-Islam Is-Saheeh (JIS) by Kevin James, who organized the group while he was an inmate at California State Prison in Sacramento.

The study noted that state and local prison officials have been using contractors and volunteers from the private sector to provide counseling to the Islamic prison population, promote Islam within the prisons, and conduct Muslim prayer services. The program is largely unmonitored. As a result, there have been a number of cases of imams espousing and spreading a violent Islamic agenda to the inmates, who are already disenfranchised. “In the absence of monitoring by authoritative Islamic chaplains, materials that advocate violence have infiltrated the prison system undetected,” the report concluded.

Four men arrested: planning attacks against U.S.

2 September 2005: A federal grand jury indicted four men, one the leader of a state prison gang, for allegedly plotting terror attacks against U.S. military and National Guard facilities, Jewish synagogues and the Israeli Consulate. The 15-page indictment was released yesterday and accuses Kevin Lamar James, 29; Levar Haney Washington, 25; Gregory Vernon Patterson, 21; and Hammad Riaz Samana, 21, of plotting terrorist attacks, including the use of guns and explosives to “maximize the number of casualties to be inflicted.” All sites are reportedly in the Southern California area. The indictment identifies all four men as being part of a terrorist “war” by Islamic extremists.

The six-count indictment identifies all four men as being a part of a conspiracy “to levy war against the U.S. government through terrorism” and states that the plot was hatched by James, an inmate at the California state prison in Sacramento. Kevin Lamar James, who is serving a 10-year prison sentence for an armed robbery in 1996, is the founder of a prison gang of radical Muslims known as Jam’iyyat Ul-Islam Is-Saheeh, or “JIS,” an Islamic group operating in prisons since 1997.

The indictment states that James, who has been incarcerated since 1996 on attempted robbery and weapons convictions, preached that it is “the duty of JIS members to target for violent attack any enemies of Islam or ‘infidels,’ including the United States government and Jewish and non-Jewish supporters of Israel.” He also allegedly forced members to take an oath of obedience to him and not to disclose the existence of JIS. The indictment alleges he recruited inmates by distributing a “protocol” that spelled out his teachings about Islam, including the justification for killing nonbelievers. James, who used several aliases, also aspired to create “cells” to carry out violent attacks outside prison.

According to the indictment, the terror attacks were to be carried out on Jewish holidays. The indictment also charges Washington and Patterson with robbing a gas station at gunpoint on July 5 to help fund the terrorism, and notes that Patterson reportedly bought a .223-caliber rifle this past July. They were also actively engaged in recruiting bomb experts. In December 2004, the indictment alleges that James urged Levar Haney Washington to recruit five people without felony convictions and “train them in covert operations,” including teaching them to make remote-activated bombs.
