Security heightened in Dallas after reports of suspicious incidents

20 August 2007: Since the beginning of the criminal trial against the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development last month, police and federal security officials for the court have identified a number of suspicious incidents that have taken place in Dallas – and most appear to be directly connected to disrupting the largest and most significant terror funding trial ever to be conducted against a Muslim charity in U.S. history.

A law enforcement official in contact with the Northeast Intelligence Network identified approximately ten incidents, some still under active investigation, that appear to be directly connected to the trial taking place on the 15th floor of the Dallas federal building. One example includes a report of a man appearing to be of Middle Eastern origin casing a TXU plant near the downtown Dallas area on two separate occasions one day apart. The TXU plant supplies power to downtown Dallas.

Other reports of suspicious activities by men of Middle Eastern appearance in downtown Dallas are also under investigation. In a possible related incident, the lead prosecutor in the case against the Holy Land Foundation, U.S. attorney Jim Jacks, had his car vandalized at his home in North Dallas.

Security has been increased accordingly.

CAIR declares silent war on anti-terrorism web sites, radio programs

Files “Friend of Court Brief” - protests “biased” reporting of the Holy Land Foundation Trial

WANTS REPORTING SILENCED18 August 2007: The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) clearly has a problem with news of the Holy Land Foundation trial and the role of CAIR as an unindicted co-conspirator being reported, and through the filing of an Amicus Curiae (Friend of Court) brief in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, wants it to stop.

According to the 57-page brief, CAIR alleges that “the list of unindicted co-conspirators has spread and gained notoriety through non-mainstream media…” and further alleges that the sites reporting on the trial and CAIR are “often extremely biased and inaccurate in their reporting, leading to even more severe damage to the reputation of the unindicted co-conspirators.”

Douglas J. Hagmann, director of the Northeast Intelligence Network, is the host of TRIAL WATCH” on the Patriot Brigade Talk Radio Network, - providing an update on the Holy Land Foundation trial using his insight as a 22 year veteran investigator.

From the brief:

“NOW COMES, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), by and through its undersigned counsel, respectfully submitting this Amicus Curiae brief in opposition to the public issuance of the unindicted co-conspirator list and seeking the Court to strike their name from the list, along with the names of all other unindicted individuals and organizations, and take any other action that it deems to be appropriate. 19 August 2007: Listen LIVE to veteran Hollywood actor, talk show host and political analyst with Doug Hagmann, host of the Homeland Security Report discuss the latest information about the marginalization of Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Holy Land Foundation trial and other matters of importance to our national security.

“The Saudi-funded radical front group calling itself the Council on American Islamic Relations, an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial in Dallas, has launched a major attack against the Anti-Defamation League: CAIR Says ADL Seeks to Hinder Legal Rights of U.S. Muslims. That “alternative viewpoint” is, of course, the viewpoint of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. The article continues with a laundry list of CAIR’s complaints about the ADL, distorted and misrepresented in the usual CAIR fashion. The fact that they’ve been labeled as “unindicted co-conspirators” is causing CAIR to lash out in all directions.”

Unusual FBI statement requests “objectivity” in case of 2 Muslim students

Douglas J. Hagmann, Director

17 August 2007: Investigators from the Northeast Intelligence Network follow various trails and leads. It was Matt Drudge at a National Press Club meeting who once said, “I go where the stink is.”  So do we, although we stay a bit longer to get to the real rot of the case.

A public statement made yesterday has us reeling from the stench emanating from the FBI’s media office in Tampa, Florida about two University of South Florida students: Ahmed Abda Sherf MOHAMED 24, and Yousef (a/k/a Youssef) Samir MEGAHED 21, two Muslim students from the University of South Florida who were caught driving with at least one “incendiary device” and other components that when mixed together, could create explosives. Both were arrested and jailed in lieu of $800,000 bond. Both smiled throughout their booking and arraignment, appearing much happier and more confident than most faced with such charges.

Their arrest led the FBI to search a residence at 12402 Pampas Place, Tampa, Florida in connection with their arrests. Authorities executed a search warrant for 12402 Pampas Place, which is a single family dwelling owned by Nour and Ana SALHAB, according to public records. That location also happens to be the address of a home that had been previously rented World and Islam Studies Enterprise (WISE) one of two groups founded by convicted terrorist supporter Sami AL-ARIAN, who was also a professor at University of South Florida, which is the same university that MOHAMED and MEGAHED attend.

That address was also once used by Ramadan SHALLAH, a FBI Most Wanted terrorist.

Authorities also executed a search warrant on a vehicle owned by Ghassan SALHAB, the son of Nour and Ana SALHAB who also resides with MOHAMED and MEGAHED. The FBI removed materials from the locations, although refused to comment on what was taken by authority of their search warrant. Now, the FBI is commenting on the case, but not in the manner expected.

On Wednesday, the agency released a statement telling the public it’s possible there’s no merit to the accusations against the two men. “The FBI would like to remind everyone that this is an ongoing investigation and there is the possibility that the publicly reported allegations involving the students may be proven to be false,” according to a statement from the media department of the FBI’s Tampa office. “We’re just making a request for everybody to be very objective at this time, very neutral,” said Special Agent Dave Couvertier, media liaison for the Tampa office.

Experts quoted by the media in Tampa were quoted about the statement. “That is a highly unusual statement from the FBI,” said Tampa lawyer John Fitzgibbons, a former federal prosecutor.

“Well, who knows what that means?” said Ed Page, a lawyer who has experience in Tampa and Washington, D.C. “Perhaps the initial assessment that the trunk contained pipe bombs was inaccurate. That’s a weird statement, I’ve got to tell you, to be coming out of the FBI.”

Weird indeed… with a strong and pungent odor.

Tom Burnett Sr. calls for congressional investigation into planned memorial

Douglas J. Hagmann, Director

“I am Tom Burnett Sr., father of Tom Burnett Jr., who led the effort to take Flight 93 back from the Islamists. He did something. Now I must do something. I must speak out against the memorial planned for Shanksville.”

15 August 2007: Tom Burnett, Jr. fought hard to retake control of Flight 93 from Muslim hijackers on September 11, 2001. His father, Tom Burnett Sr. is fighting equally hard to warn people that the memorial planned for Flight 93 is a $47 million design replete with Islamic symbolism and commemoration of the four Muslim hijackers who murdered forty innocent people – including his son - on Flight 93. The senior Mr. Burnett is leading the charge in calling for a congressional investigation into the design of the planned memorial, a memorial that despite name change and minor cosmetic changes, continues to brazenly embrace Islamic symbolism.

An investigation by the Northeast Intelligence Network of the memorial substantiated the exhaustive investigative work of Mr. Alec Rawls, author of the forthcoming book Crescent of Betrayal, as detailed in our report of July 26, 2007. Mr. Rawls was interviewed on The Homeland Security Report with Doug Hagmann and explains in great detail the symbolism built into the memorial and the people who are trying hard to stifle criticism by painting those who are exposing the Islamic elements of the design as “conspiracy nuts.

Those who cannot or simply refuse to see the obvious Islamic terrorist memorializing features of the planned memorial are some of the same people who deny that the battle for the heart and soul of America are being waged upon us by a large and well-entrenched army of Muslim activists in the U.S. Following the attacks of 9/11, we’ve seen the dedication of Muslim prayer rooms in public facilities, including the Meadowlands, installation of foot baths in public facilities, schools and universities to accommodate Muslim prayer rituals, and now we face the ultimate insult. We are about to permit the construction of a memorial that not only debases the memory of those heroes who fight the opening battle of 2001 aboard Flight 93, but serves to “embrace” the very ideology that declared war on us and slaughtered thousands of innocent men, women and children in the U.S.

“Something’s Wrong”

Revealed: The origin of the dirty bomb threat to New York

Douglas J. Hagmann, Director

14 August 2007: Proper analysis and assessment of Islamic terrorist postings is one element of a larger and more complex puzzle in the field of threat assessment, but it is by no means the sole element. Such is the case of the dirty bomb threat to New York City last Friday, a threat said to have originated primarily from the reports of Internet postings made public by the Internet web site Debka. According to media reports, the massive response to the alleged threat to New York City was a result of the information provided by that web site in the days leading up to the August 10, 2007 threat. In a statement published on their web site yesterday, Debka explained their purported role in the New York City threat, describing their findings of threats made by al Qaeda “mentioning New York, Los Angeles and Miami as targets of attacks by means of trucks loaded with radioactive material.”

The truth is, however, that Debka had little, if anything to do with the ramping of security in New York City last Friday night relative to the dirty bomb threat. In fact, very similar if not more specific information was posted on this web site in an article dated 18 May 2007 outlining threats published on Arabic language forums against New York, Los Angeles, Miami and other cities. (As you read further, it is important that you keep in mind that it was the analysis of Randy Taylor that the threats outlined in that report appear to have been initially written in English, translated into Arabic, and then posted on Arabic language web sites). Subsequent to that article, the Northeast Intelligence Network published other reports concerning the use of radiological bombs in the weeks and months that followed, a legitimate and very real concern admitted by federal authorities. What then, was the reason for such a strong and tailored response last weekend?

A federal investigator speaking on condition of anonymity to the Northeast Intelligence Network provided the “story behind the story” about the massive response to the New York City “dirty bomb” threat. He explains: “We know that there is a very real threat of terrorists detonating a dirty bomb inside the U.S. In all probability, it will be more than one and will happen in more than one city. This has been a concern of ours for some time and remains a concern,” he added.

“But, the specific threat to New York on Friday came from an informant,” stated this official.

“This informant has proven reliable in the past,” he added, and “we’ve had progress in the investigations related to the information he provided. The information he has given to us was not exactly “low level,” stated this investigator, who described the informant as a U.S. citizen of Middle Eastern origin and a former active member of a mosque known for its ties to “extremists.”

As authorities set out to gain more information about the active investigation from this informant through additional interviews last week, he began talking about a planned dirty bomb attack using vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs) laced with radioactive material against New York City and other locations. “All information he gave us to that point checked out, so we had to take him seriously,” stated this federal official. We mobilized the appropriate agencies and assets to respond to the information he gave us based on the timetable he outlined, which was pretty specific. When nothing was found to substantiate any portion of the information he gave us about the New York City threat, we revisited this matter with him. It was at that time we discovered that he was ‘playing us,’ possibly for his own entertainment or possibly to assess our responses to the threat, perhaps in conjunction with others.”

The federal official described the claims that the multi-agency response was generated because of general threats published on an Internet forum and then published by a web site as ludicrous. He stated that many people are missing the bigger picture of the asymmetrical war we are fighting. “We have foreign enemies on our own soil who are constantly trying to launch attacks against us, both big and small [attacks]. They are also seeding the intelligence that we collect for a variety of reasons. And they are also sticking together more than most people realize, while pretending to assist us in weeding out the terrorists,” he added.

“There is a lesson to be leaned here, one that I have been trying to get others to understand and a lesson that we have seen play out in numerous cases in the past. There is a strong loyalty among terrorists to see that their common goals are achieved. Their loyalty is to their ideology, and they will use every method of deception just to keep us interested and bogged down in busywork. Even in the best cases when informants are given opportunities to lessen their [legal] troubles, they can never be trusted. Their behavior is rooted in their ideology. They don’t think like we do in the West,” stated this official. “For the most part, we cannot rely on their cooperation, and any perceived cooperation must be treated with suspicion, from the top down.”
