Terrorists are in America

13 March 2008: This is an account that needs to be read and widely disseminated. The article is authored by Jamie Glazov that appeared today on Front Page Magazine and is excerpted below. Click on the link following the excerpts to read the entire article. Perhaps the most important aspect of this account is the independent corroboration of terrorist training inside the U.S. - something that many people simply do not believe, and many in our own government and media purposely downplay.

We have investigated the very locations referenced in this article. We have provided this administration, at their request, our investigative findings. Despite providing literally pounds of reports supported by photographs and other documentation, these terrorism recruitment centers continue to exist unabated in America.

By Douglas J. Hagmann, Founder & Director

Terrorists groups are very powerful, they have money, and they do not care if they die. They do not care who they kill. They are in America and if the American people do not want more attacks like 9/11, they had better start being more concerned about Wahhabi scholars spreading violence in the U.S.

[...]

I have met people since 2004 who are recruiting new Muslims arriving in America to join the ‘Wahhabi’ movement. These people want to start a Wahhabi nation in America. They have tried to recruit me.

[...]

Dave Gaubatz and I have worked as police officers for many years and have studied Al Qaeda and other terrorists group. We have visited places in the U.S. from the East coast to the West coast that have people who are supporting Al Qaeda. The Saudi Arabian government is behind the training of Islamic scholars with the Wahhabi ideology. They are trained in Saudi Arabia and then sent to many countries to spread this dangerous ideology. Many of the Imams at mosques in the U.S. are trained in Saudi Arabia. We have met many who tell us the U.S. should be an Islamic nation and they have violent material describing how to do this.

Mideast Military Chief Resigns

11 March 2008: Adm. William J. Fallon, the Navy admiral in charge of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, announced his resignation today amid reports that he was “at odds” with the current administration’s position on Iran. Fallon, the subject of an article published last week in Esquire magazine, was described in that article as “a lone voice” against taking military action to stop the Iranian nuclear program. Fallon was also a voice in favor of a more rapid troop pullout from Iraq.

U.S. SHOWING LACK OF UNDERSTANDING - OR HONESTY

By Douglas J. Hagmann, Director

“When we know our enemy, or at least admit that the war we are currently fighting is steeped in centuries-old fervent religious ideology, then and only then we will be able to fight and fully beat them. We must make no mistake that our initial successes in Afghanistan and even Iraq are purely military victories. Our enemy continues to conduct their operations in nearly every country in the world, including here in the United States. Consequently, we will not be able to be victorious by military strength alone. It will take honesty to identify our enemy and know our enemy as well as they know us, or we will be fighting this war for generations to come.” -Douglas J. Hagmann

8 March 2008: Over the last several decades, nearly every Muslim country and essentially the entire Muslim world has experienced a religious resurgence or the unmistakable revival of Islamic fundamentalism. Anti-Americanism has a vice-like hold on the entire population of the Islamic world, including those from countries considered to be moderate and our allies in our war on terror. Knowing this, the governments of our Muslim allies, as well as the prominent leaders of “moderate Muslim” groups in the U.S. have been reluctant, if not altogether silent, on condemning the terrorists who are allegedly acting in violation of the principals of the religion of Islam.

Political leaders, media personalities and other pundits describe Islam as a “religion of peace,” stating that Muslims who kill in the name of their religion are not true Muslims. They insist that that the term “jihad” does not refer to a holy war, but a “personal moral struggle” against the evil within oneself - or some similar variation.

Commenting this past weekend on a recent “terror convention” in Iran, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice stated that recruiting suicide bombers in the name of Islam violates the fundamental tenets of “a great world religion.” This violent cause “has nothing to do with Islam.” Rice added:

“Islam is a peaceful religion. And so the notion that somehow flying airplanes into buildings or strapping a belt on yourself and blowing up other people is in the service of Islam is something, I think, that clearly perverts the religion and is resented by most respected Islamic scholars for very good reason. By the way, I think probably rejected too by most people, because who wants that to be the future for your children?”

Based on lengthy historical precedent, her statements lack the necessary acknowledgment that there are a great many Muslim people who stand willing to die for their faith. In America, we attempt to apply secular beliefs to make sense out of such terrorist acts as religious “martyrdom,” suggesting that only a small percentage of Muslims are extremists. What about the larger numbers who display similar tendencies, especially those in the Muslim hotbeds of Islamic fundamentalism? We again apply secular logic to their fervent religious convictions, and suggest that dying for Allah is not their ultimate motive, and assert that they are merely pawns in a political struggle and are not really acting as “true” Muslims. By applying such characteristics to our enemy, we are able to be falsely comforted in the premise that we are fighting a relatively small group of thugs instead of throngs of people who possess centuries-old, deeply religious convictions and motivations.

Condoleezza Rice’s statements are alarming insofar as they are either based on misinformation or more likely, are deliberately sophistical. Perhaps they were made with the intent of maintaining the tenuous coalition of a handful of “moderate” Muslim countries reluctant involvement against the war on terror. Even in consideration of the most noble of causes, her statements serve to reinforce misconceptions that ushered in the attacks of 9/11. Fighting terrorism is one thing, but winning the war against Islamic terrorism is another. The latter requires moral clarity and honesty about the enemy we are fighting. To misunderstand or deliberately mischaracterize our enemy for the sake of political correctness is to adopt an inappropriate and inadequate strategy in this war, and is one that will lead us down a perilous path - the same path that we have maintained for the last 30 years.

We need to take a look at history to understand what is at stake and realize that we cannot afford to misunderstand the religious convictions of our enemy. Noted historian Bernard Lewis wrote the following:

“In the Muslim worldview the basic division of mankind is into the House of Islam (Dar al- Islam) and the House of War (Dar al-Harb). Ideally, the House of Islam is conceived as a single community. The logic of Islamic law, however, does not recognize the permanent existence of any other polity outside Islam. In time, in the Muslim view, all mankind will accept Islam or submit to Islamic rule. A treaty of peace between the Muslim state and a non-Muslim state was thus in theory impossible Such a truce, according to the jurists, could only be provisional. The name given by the Muslim jurists to this struggle is jihad.”

Accordingly, those in disagreement with jihad as meaning a holy war are themselves apostates to their religion. They are the infidels who are perverting Islam, not those who engage in the armed struggle. Perhaps this is the reason so many so-called “moderate Muslims” have been silent on condemning the terrorists in acting in violation of the principals of the religion of Islam. Perhaps this is the reason we maintain military superiority, yet unprecedented vulnerability.

When we know our enemy, or at least admit that the war we are currently fighting is steeped in centuries-old fervent religious ideology, then and only then we will be able to fight and fully beat them. We must make no mistake that our initial successes in Afghanistan and even Iraq are purely military victories. Our enemy continues to conduct their operations in nearly every country in the world, including here in the United States. Consequently, we will not be able to be victorious by military strength alone. It will take honesty to identify our enemy and know our enemy as well as they know us, or we will be fighting this war for generations to come.

Laser activity against commercial aircraft now confirmed in Canada

7 March 2008: The Northeast Intelligence Network was one of the first private intelligence sources to issue reports about unusual laser activity against passenger aircraft, having reported on such activity since 2004. The airline industry has been continuously targeted by terrorists in a variety of forms for decades, from “traditional hijackings” to using the aircraft to cause mass casualties.

Within the last few years, a disturbing trend has emerged - the use of high-powered lasers against passenger aircraft, usually on approach to an airport to blind the pilot and copilot in the cockpit with the possible intent to cause a crash. Other theories pertain to the use of lasers as sighting devices for weapons against the aircraft. The FBI and the US Department of Homeland Security have issued official memos warning of laser activity against aircraft. Excerpted from a 2005 joint FBI/JTTF memo:

“Although lasers are not proven methods of attack like improvised explosive devices and hijackings, terrorist groups overseas have expressed interest in using these devices against human sight. In certain circumstances, if laser weapons adversely affect the eyesight of both pilot and co-pilot during a non-instrument approach, there is a risk of airliner crash.”

Yesterday, Canadian officials reported that “at least 33 pilots in Canada, including some flying large commercial airliners, have complained about being flashed in the eyes by bright lights that could be lasers.”

Rambling letter, card & photo sent to Congressional offices on Capitol Hill

6 March 2008: Federal officials are reporting that at least eight House Democratic lawmakers received a rambling, 20-page “rant,” a holiday greeting card with the message “Happy New Year, We Did It” on the cards, and a photograph of a man standing by an undamaged recruiting center before the bombing took place. Investigators are currently searching for additional copies of the letters, suggesting that there could be more yet unopened. As a result of the letters, the U.S. Capitol Police are now involved in the investigation along with the FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and other agencies.

According to an official close to the investigation, the letters did not contain any specific threats and were all postmarked February 28, 2008.

Internal Memo sent to all congressional officesThe Northeast Intelligence Network received and authenticated a copy of the internal memo sent to lawmakers that states the following:

Attention All Members of the Congressional CommunityWithin the past twenty-four hours, a number of letters have begun arriving at various Congressional Offices on Capitol Hill. The letters contain a reference to the military recruiting office in New York City. At this time, none of the letters received have contained any threat to the Congressional Community or Members of Congress.

All of the letters have properly passed through Congressional mail security screening procedures before arriving at various Congressional Offices and have been determined to be safe.

These letters can be identified in the following manner:

All envelopes received have all been manila in color and are approximately five inches by eight inches in size.

All envelopes have two (one dollar) stamps affixed to them and a white label with a return address.

The United States Capitol Police want to preserve any possible evidence. Therefore, in the event that any envelopes arrive at your Congressional Office, please respond in the following manner:

Do not attempt to open the envelopeImmediately contact the USCP Command Center

The Command Center will have an officer dispatched to your office to take possession of the letter. Because this is an ongoing criminal investigation, please do not forward this email or release information outside your immediate office.

6 March 2008: It has a familiar “sound” to it - an early morning blast blows out the front window of a Midtown building. At about 3:45 a.m. today, a “small” explosion set off by an “improvised explosive device” blew out the front window of the Armed Forces recruiting center situated between 43rd and 44th Streets, and Seventh Avenue and Broadway at Times Square. Police and the FBI are investigating, while the Department of Homeland Security is said to be monitoring the situation.

Vehicle and pedestrian traffic was diverted until about 6:45 a.m. as police searched for possible secondary explosive devices. None were found. A motive for the blast was not yet established.

Similarities to 2007 & 2005 explosions

Authorities are looking into a possible connection to two earlier bombings at foreign consulates in Manhattan in 2005 and 2007. According to officials, a man in a gray hooded sweatshirt was seen leaving the scene on a bicycle after this morning’s bombing.

As noted in our report of 27 October 2007, the explosions in 2005 and 2007 had similar MO’s and a similar appearing suspect. At about 3:40 a.m. on 26 October 2007, two hollowed-out hand grenades filled with explosive material detonated outside of the Mexican Consulate located at 27 East 39th Street. At about the same time on 5 May 2005, two crudely made but more powerful improvised explosive devices detonated outside of the British Consulate situated at 845 Third Avenue in East Midtown, shattering windows and damaging a planter.

Each of these attacks were captured on video surveillance. In each case, a man appearing to be in his 20’s, riding a bicycle and wearing a hooded gray jacket was seen and captured on video leaving the scene at the time of the blasts.

The investigation is continuing.

Zawahiri’s treatise: Islamic legal justifications for terrorism as legit tactic

3 March 2008: The much anticipated book by Ayman al Zawahiri, al Qaeda second-in-command, was posted on jihad web sites today. According to the Muslim terrorist’s video message last week, he wrote the 188-page book titled The Vindication, A Message Exonerating the Nation of the Pen and the Sword to counteract the depiction of the Islamic world as “helpless, submissive, fearful.”

This book further represents, and is a response to the growing ideological differences between al Zawahiri and his former associate and major player in the global Islamic jihad movement, Sheikh Sayyed Imam Al-SHARIF, 58. Al-SHARIF, a/k/a “Dr. FADL” and Abd Al-Qader Bin ‘Abd Al-’AZIZ, recently called for a stop to violent jihad activities, strongly disagreeing with al Zawahiri over the use of terrorism for the advancement of global Islamic jihad.

In 2004 Al-Sharif was imprisoned in Egypt, during which time he authored a widely published book titled Wathiqat Tarshid Al-’Aml Al-Jihadi fi Misr w’Al-’Alam, translated as Document of Right Guidance for Jihad Activity in Egypt and the World.” His work, attacking the violent methods of al-Qaeda was published in the Arabic press within the last two years. Ultimately, Zawahiri’s latest book appears to be an official treatise of public disagreement with his old associate and provides an Islamic scholarly and legal justification for Islamic terrorist tactics.
