Reality Check to Those Suffering from Terror Fatigue

8 January 2005: I was looking through some of the hundreds of emails that come to my inbox daily this morning and was reminded just how serious the threat of terrorism is on this very day. Allow me to share just a couple of the headlines and some of my comments with you:

* Briton is accused of missile plot in US- A British businessman stands accused of offering to sell an undercover FBI agent 200 shoulder-fired missiles. Told the agent that they could be used to bring down multiple aircraft on the anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Pretty well documented case for the US Government. Gee, I wonder what a Middle Eastern fellow in the US would need with missiles?

* Evidence found in Iraq leads investigators to an Albany, New York mosque- Last summer US troops in Iraq discovered the name of Yassin Muhhiddin Aref, telephone number and US address in a book left behind by insurgents in a make-shift terrorist training camp. Aref, the Imam of the Masjid As-Salam mosque in Albany and Mohammed Mosharref Hossain, the 49-year-old founder of the mosque and owner of the local Little Italy Pizzeria were arrested and charged with helping an undercover informant posing as a weapons dealer who was wanting to to buy shoulder fired missiles that would be used to kill the Pakistani ambassador in New York City. Good chance Americans would have died along with the Ambassador, don’t you think?

* US Authorities seek man attempting to buy large quantities of fertilizer- Federal authorities are looking for a middle eastern man using bogus construction credentials trying to purchase 500 to 1000 metric tons of the fertilizer chemical ammonium nitrate which is exactly the same materials used in the Oklahoma City bombing. The incident was reported by a company in Canada to US authorities. This fellow must have a very large yard to fertilize?

* Islamic Army in Iraq threatens attacks in US- The Islamic Army in Iraq, one of the main armed insurgent-terrorist groups in that country fighting against our forces has openly stated on an Islamic website that they “will bring woes on America. The mujahedeen (holy warriors) have prepared big surprises for your sons outside America and a big surprise for you in America,” according to reports. Hmmm. Idle threats perhaps, but it seems that we received intelligence prior to 9-11 that many thought were idle threats.

I personally, as well as other analysts and researchers of Northeast Intelligence Network receive an enormous number of emails from idiots worldwide with their conspiracy theories and accusations on how the US really isn’t a target for terrorists and how the Bush administration simply uses the terrorist threat to further their agenda overseas as well as domestically. I’m the first to admit that I don’t have all the answers but be assured of this simple truth: Anyone who wants to smuggle or buy 200 shoulder fired missiles for use in America isn’t using them for deer hunting. We also seem to be missing two rather large buildings in the New York skyline that I know were last seen untouched and standing tall early on a sunshine filled morning in 2001. We also are missing four airplanes full of passengers. There are also a number of incidents that have happened inside the United States that the general public really doesn’t know about, or all the facts concerning such incidents were not relayed to the public in a manner that would indicate the true motive of terrorism behind the incident. Research into the facts beyond the mainstream media reports often leaves no doubt whatsoever what the true nature and intent of the incident was.

It seems anymore that I am seeing Osama Bin Laden or one of his henchmen about as much lately as the “Leave it to Beaver” reruns that grace my television screen and in light of this, I think it is still a pretty safe bet that we are a prime terrorist target and the nightmare isn’t a dream, it is for real.

It is coming to a town near you.

Be safe, stay vigilant.
