Flashback: Iraq analysis confirmed 1 month later - by President

The Tet holiday shares this similarity to Ramadan. For years there was pre-Tet holiday paranoia that the North Vietnamese would use the Tet holiday to launch attacks just as we have done with Ramadan over the last five years. The similarity is uncanny if you think about it. We are now treating Ramadan each year much as we did the Tet holiday in years prior to 1968. -Analyst Randy Taylor, September 22, 2006.

19 October 2006: In an interview conducted yesterday (October 18, 2006) by George Stephanopoulos of ABC, President Bush said he agreed with an editorial by New York Times writer Thomas Friedman that the increased attacks in Iraq could be the “jihadist equivalent” of the 1968 Tet Offensive in Vietnam.

Sound familiar? It should, as Randy Taylor published an almost identical analysis nearly one month ago. The analysis provided to our visitors by Mr. Taylor in his article dated September 22, 2006 was, unfortunately, dead-on accurate: “[There are] indications that there will be a huge upsurge in violence in Iraq.”
