Bomb scare aboard US commuter flight

29 August 2006: U.S. Airways Express Flight 3441, operated by Republic Airways, left Philadelphia at 10:20 a.m. ET Monday, bound for Houston. The plane was carrying 56 people including the crew when it was diverted to a Tennessee airport after a threatening note was found on board, according to authorities. None of the passengers were injured, and no bomb was found. The plane landed without incident at the Tri-Cities Regional Airport in eastern Tennessee about 11:30 a.m.

While initial reports suggested that more than one note was found aboard the aircraft, federal authorities are now claiming only one note was found; it was written in English and “placed in such a location [in the cabin] that it would most likely be found ‘during flight.’” Details about the note’s contents were not released.
