Pakistani Cleric With Terrorist Ties Slams Investigative Report – Issues Delusional Diatribe
“Now, here comes the latest aggressor, Douglas J Hagmann. In one breath he concocts so many lies that one wonders how a person with common sense can do such a thing. His statements themselves are self–contradictory, identical to his predecessor, Yusuf Bodenski.” (sic)–Statement by Sheikh Syed Mubarik ‘Ali Gilani LINK
1 April 2006: The Northeast Intelligence Network, along with Internet researcher “CP,” has merited the attention and ire of Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani, a resident of Lahore, Pakistan, leader of the Muslims of the Americas, and the founder of the Islamic terrorist organization Jamaat al Fuqra (a position he disputes despite evidence to the contrary). Sheikh Gilani, all of the way from his digs in Lahore, Pakistan, has published a rambling diatribe accusing me and the Northeast Intelligence Network of “engaging in hate, fabricated falsehood, lies, and appalling propaganda aimed at bringing about a clash between Muslims and Christians the world over, and particularly in the United States (U.S.).” Well, “your Emesis,” that’s quite a charge. In response, allow me to quote the old adage: “Me thinks thou doth protest too much.” On February 12, 2006, the Northeast Intelligence Network published an investigative report, co-authored by Internet researcher “CP,” about Muslim enclaves located inside the United States. Based on our investigation, the encampments, or compounds, originate from and have their roots in the organization known as Jamaat ul Fuqra.
Additionally, our investigation identified Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani as the leader of Jamaat ul Fuqra and by extension, the head of these Islamic encampments, which is an assertion that Gilani steadfastly denies. Gilani, it seems, has been trying to “shake” (pun intended) his association with Jamaat ul Fuqra for nearly three decades.
It seems that Sheikh Gilani was so upset with our report that he chose to write a convoluted diatribe accusing the Northeast Intelligence Network and co-author CP of being “the actual perpetrators of international terrorism, and racial and religious bigotry and their ceaseless campaign of hate,” and we are “ more damaging to the U.S. than any other country.” A link to our investigative report can be found at the end of this article, and you can read his rambling discourse about us at this link: http://www.iqou-moa.org/editorial/terror_roots.htm
Despite the protests of the sheikh and half-baked Gilani, his background should speak for itself. The story of Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani begins about 1980, when he traveled from Pakistan to Brooklyn, New York and began preaching at an African-American mosque and seeking recruits for the jihad in Afghanistan. He primarily recruited black American converts to Islam from prisons and those with criminal backgrounds living in inner city neighborhoods, a tactic still in use today. Some of his followers, when not engaged in jihad, lived in compounds – or “jamaats” – most of which began to spring up inside the U.S. The resulting organization, al Fuqra (meaning “the impoverished”), was formed with the primary goal of purifying Islam through violence. And, Sheikh Gilani was the primary recruiter. It was at that time that Gilani established his U.S. headquarters in a rural area of Delaware County, New York, where he established a “Jamaat,” or Islamic compound.
Between 1980 and 1990, al Fuqra members have been either convicted or suspected in 13 assassinations and 17 fire bombings. Front companies for the organization have been linked to the defrauding $350,000 from the state of Colorado’s workers’ compensation fund and $1.3 million from the state of California. These funds are laundered through several Muslim front organizations set up in the United States by Gilani including an Islamic university and system of private elementary schools. State investigators believe Al Fuqra members delivered the funds to Gilani during trips to Lahore to finance jihad activities.
In 1989, federal authorities conducted a raid of an al Fuqra storage facility in Colorado, finding ten handguns and silencers, 30 pounds of explosives, and target-practice silhouettes pierced with bullet holes and labeled “FBI Antiterrorist Team” and “Zionist Pig,” pipe bombs, and explosive components. Authorities also found blank birth certificates, Social Security cards, and false licenses. Police also found information on local military installations and electrical power lines, cell phone sites, gas and oil fields, plus “attack plans” against various targets. Military-style manuals on “Guerrilla Warfare,” “Counter Guerrilla Operations,” “Understanding Amateur Radio,” “Fair Weather Flying,” and “Basic Blueprint Reading” were also recovered. One of the targets, identified in the locker - a moderate imam, was brutally stabbed to death four months later.
Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani can issue denials and objections, but they will never make those pesky little reports authored by the U.S. Department of State go away. He apparently didn’t get the 1999 memo “Patterns of Global Terrorism” from the U.S. Department of State where he is identified as the leader of Jamaat ul Fuqra, and further states that his followers have “purchased isolated rural compounds in North America to live communally, practice their faith, and insulate themselves from Western culture.” Not coincidentally, our investigative report focusing on Islamberg in south central New York State fits that description perfectly.
The same State Department publication states that “[Jamaat ul] Fuqra members have attacked a variety of targets that they view as enemies of Islam,” from non-Muslims to Muslims they regard as heretics. The report lists assassinations and fire bombings across the United States in the 1980’s as referenced above, and identifies Fuqra members in the United States having been convicted of murder and fraud. Nice group. Although his name was removed from the US State Department’s list a year later, investigations into his associations and activities continue.
If the name Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani sounds familiar, it should. He is the person who is most commonly recognized as the man Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl was to meet in Pakistan when he was kidnapped in January 2002, savagely murdered and ultimately beheaded – all in the name of Islam.
Although jailed briefly for suspicion of murder, Gilani was later released. But he has a much longer and equally insidious history with Islamic terrorism, such as his participation at a 1993 meeting of terrorists in Sudan, where he rubbed elbows with none other than Osama bin Laden. In fact, there is sufficient evidence linking Gilani and ul Fuqra to al Qaeda. One of the men who assisted al Fuqra in 1989 was Wadih el-Hage, an al Qaeda member sentenced to life in prison for his role in the 1998 embassy bombings. Further, there is a body of evidence that suggests that “shoe bomber” Richard Reid is a follower of ul Fuqra, and one of the infamous “beltway snipers” may have obtained assistance from one of the jamaats.
As our investigative report outlines, the Hancock, NY headquarters of the terrorist group Jamaat ul Fuqra poses itself as the International Qur’anic Open University and Muslims of the Americas Inc. Gilani and the “Quranic University” is also home to the “Muslim Scouts of America” at Islamberg.
Muslims of the Americas (MOA)
Muslims of the Americas (MOA) was founded in 1980 and is led by Sheikh Sayyid Mubarik Ali Jilani (a/k/a Sheikh Gilani). MOA is a virulently anti-Semitic, Islamic extremist group with direct ties to Al-Fuqra. MOA claims to have offices in six U.S. cities and Toronto and as outlined in our investigative report, maintains secluded residential communities throughout the United States, with its primary headquarters in the state of New York. The group’s Web site and e-mails have featured writings by notorious anti-Semites and Holocaust deniers such as Michael Hoffman and former Klansman David Duke. MOA also run camps for young men - including Muslim Boy Scouts of America. The connections between Jamaat ul fuqra, the Muslims of the Americas, and the Muslim Boy Scouts of America are undeniable.
Despite these obvious connections and controversies, the ties to Sheikh Gilani, and Gilani’s ties to international terrorism, the FBI lavishly praised the work of the questionable Quranic University and even sent FBI Special Agent in Charge, Leslie Wieser, to deliver the 2004 “graduation speech” at the university. You can see and hear for yourself agent Wieser delivering his speech to the graduating class of MOA/Scouts of America at the commencement exercises in Holy Islamville, South Carolina at this link: http://www.iqou-moa.org/muslim_scouts/les_weiser.htm.
Sheikh Gilani, who has called the U.S. the biggest sponsor of terrorism in the world, must have been very proud.
Equally interesting, the website of the Muslim Scouts of America proudly displays a note of appreciation from Special Agent FBI, Phillip Irizarry of Binghamton, New York on the 2005 American Muslim Scouts Summer Program. The note from Agent Phillip Irizarry states:
“Assalamu alykum Hussein,
I just wanted to thank you again for a great day yesterday. It was a pleasure presenting to the boys. As I said they had excellent questions. The boys also demonstrated their appreciation and enthusiasm for having us present to them, and it was very much appreciated by Mike, JP and myself. I have attached the pictures we took memorializing the event and we look forward to the graduation in August, Inshallah. Please send the boys and camp staff Salaams on our behalf.”[/i]
Inshallah indeed. I wonder if agent Irizarry is a Christian… or a Jew. In any event, the MOA website - the sponsor of the Muslim Boy Scouts of America - states that “Jews are an example of human Satans,” and also describes Jews as “sub-humans.” The same website slams Christians, Christianity and America. Yet FBI Special Agent in Charge Leslie Wieser of South Carolina openly praises such “diversity,” and agent Irizarry extends his praises in a similar fashion.
Have they failed to read the anti-American, anti-Semetic, anti-Christian proclamations on the MOA web site?
Has the FBI failed to review the notes from the U.S. Department of State pertaining to Giani, Jamaat ul Fuqra, and the various investigations conducted on state levels over the last two decades?
How else would one explain the cozy relationship between this organization and the FBI? Apparently, much of America has forgotten that we are at war. Has the FBI – the agency in charge of defending our homeland forgotten as well?
The insanity of political correctness that has overtaken and is influencing our war against terrorism – ISLAMIC TERRORISM – is imperiling us all. The memory of Daniel Pearl and other victims deserve better. We, as Americans deserve better. And if we don’t stand up and demand better, who will?
