Another theft of device containing radioactive material reported

16 May 2007: A gauge containing radioactive material has been stolen from a locked vehicle in Franklin County, Pennsylvania within the last 10 days. The most recent theft adds to the growing list of stolen devices containing material that can be used for the construction of a “dirty bomb.” The radioactive material is contained inside a Troxler brand moisture density gauge and housed inside of a yellow container.

The gauge containing the radioactive substance is owned by Valley Quarries of Chambersburg, PA. The company is offering a $1,000 reward for its return.
