Islamic Terrorism on Christmas Day

Sean Osborne, Associate Director

26 December 2009: After an extremely pleasant and enjoyable day celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ with my family yesterday, I settled down to watch the 9 PM news broadcast on WCAU (NBC-owned Channel 10 in Philadelphia, PA). The lead report was about how passengers onboard Delta-Northwest Airlines Flight 253 from Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Detroit, Michigan helped to disrupt an in-progress attempt by an Islamic terrorist from Nigeria to blow up the aircraft as it prepared to land in Detroit.

The all-to-brief respite from the reality of a world at war came to an abrupt end. It became immediately apparent to myself that while the overt Islamic objective to destroy the aircraft while killing all aboard and unknown numbers on the ground below had been averted, the other Islamic objective had succeeded - terror has been struck into our hearts, the hearts of the unbelivers, the infidels, those who reject submission to the false god “allah” (Islam) and his equally false prophet Muhammed. There is no question that terror struck the hearts of all the passengers, crew and family members of those onboard Delta-Northwest 253. That terror even reached our living rooms if we watched the faces of those passengers who were interviewed.

The Quran, Sura 8, Al-Anfal (The Spoils of War) verses 59 and 60:

“Let not those who disbelieve think that they can get away with it; they can never escape. You shall prepare for them all the power you can muster, and all the equipment you can mobilize, that you may terrorize the enemies of Allah, your enemies, as well as others who are not known to you; Allah knows them. Whatever you spend in the cause of Allah will be repaid to you generously, without the least injustice.”

Therefore, in the sum of all things and contrary to most media reporting on this attack, this prime example of Islamic jihad in action was not a “failed terrorist attack.” It was as successful as all previous the Islamic terrorist attacks have been on our commercial airliners has been, irregardless of whether or not the physical destruction of the aircraft occured and human lives lost. We cannot deny that the objective of terrorizing us was unachieved. Muslims committing so-called ‘dry run’ terrorst acts succeed as well as those which destroy and kill in suicide attacks.

And yet again we are being subjected to the disinformational mass media reporting that this attack was a failure, the non-representative of Islam suspect was apprehended and our national and international commercial aircraft are safe and your security is assured while flying.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

UPDATE 26 December: See this report and this anlysis for additional and specific details which raise serious concerns of why the Obama Administration and U.S. Counter-Terrorism officials allowed this foreign national receive a visa and to fly into the country onboard a U.S. commercial aircraft. What ever happened to our terror threat no-fly watchlist?
