Possible Bomb Incident in Wilmington, Delaware

30 June 2006: It occurred at about 11:15 yesterday morning across the street from the Delaware Children’s Theater in Wilmington: a suspicious box was found when a postal worker opened the back of a blue U.S. Postal Service mailbox in the 1000 block of Delaware Avenue to remove the mail for processing. What the postal worker found was a package that had a note written on its outside, warning the finder of the box to call the bomb squad. State and Wilmington police bomb squads were called and immediately cordoned off the area. Bomb squad technicians used an explosive charge to disable the package. According to police, the package “was disabled” shortly before 3:00 p.m., however authorities have yet to detail the contents of the package or acknowledge that the package contained explosives. Investigators from the Northeast Intelligence Network are following up on this matter.
