The riots and disturbances that plagued malls across the U.S. yesterday were not spontaneous, but were orchestrated through private groups on social networking sites - primarily Facebook, according to one law enforcement source who spoke to this investigator today. This officer stated:

“This was part of a larger set-up across the country. One young kid told me he was there based on a Facebook posting in a private group, and there are other sites targeted. And expect more, they are just getting started. Our department is investigating.”

At least a dozen malls across the U.S. were the targets of disruptions, including but not limited to:

  • Aurora, CO (Town Center Mall)
  • Aurora, IL (Fox Valley Mall)
  • Beachwood, OH (Beachwood Place Mall)
  • Memphis, TN (Wolfchase Mall / Oak Court Mall)
  • Chattanooga, TN (Hamilton Place Mall)
  • Fayetteville, NC (Cross Creek Mall)
  • Elizabeth, NJ (The Mills at Jersey Gardens)
  • Fort Worth, TX (Hulen Mall)

More information will be provided as it is developed.
